Getting kids excited about investing does not have to feel like a serious lecture. One of the most fun and effective ways is to start with the things they already love. Begin by making a list together. Sit down with your child and ask them to name their favorite stores, favorite toys, favorite clothing brands, favorite restaurants or foods, and even favorite cars if they have any. You might be surprised how many recognizable names come up. Next, look together to see which of those companies are publicly traded. Many big names like Disney, Nike, McDonald's, or Tesla have shares that anyone can own through the stock market.
