Bitcoin, NVIDIA, and Real Estate: A Look at the Same Decade

NVIDIA compounded around 65 percent a year, Bitcoin rose roughly 100-fold, and home prices about doubled. What one decade says about outliers, volatility, and repeatable investing.

When people talk about the biggest investment winners of the past ten years, three names often come up: Bitcoin, NVIDIA, and real estate. Comparing them side by side over the same period shows just how different the paths and outcomes can be.

From roughly mid-2016 to mid-2026, the differences are striking. NVIDIA stock delivered extraordinary returns, with a compound annual growth rate in the neighborhood of 65 percent. A long-term holder saw gains measured in the tens of thousands of percent. Bitcoin also produced massive results, rising from the $600–700 range in mid-2016 to around $65,000 a decade later. That equates to roughly a 100-fold increase, or a compound annual growth rate near 55–60 percent, though the ride included multiple drops of 50 percent or more along the way.
